What is cbd?

CBD is a naturally occurring, non-psychoactive compound found in the cannabis plant that exhibits numerous medicinal benefits. The two main ingredients of marijuana, Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), belong to a class of compounds known as cannabinoids. Though CBD is just one of over 60 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, many scientific studies have indicated that CBD possesses the greatest therapeutic potential of all the cannabinoids. CBD is largely responsible for many of the health and wellness benefits of the cannabis plant.

CBD offers many of the same medicinal benefits as medicinal marijuana, but unlike THC based products, CBD does not cause users to feel “high.” This unique benefit of CBD allows you to think clearly and function fully throughout your day. Because it offers such a wide spectrum of potential medical benefits, many scientists consider CBD to be the most important of all cannabinoids.

CBD Derived from Hemp

Unlike marijuana, hemp is naturally rich in CBD and low in THC. Therefore, it makes practical and legal sense to obtain CBD from hemp. Because cannabinoids derived from hemp are considered to be food-based products, few legal restrictions exist in the United States or many other parts of the world. CBD derived from hemp is the best way to legally obtain the medicinal benefits of the cannabis plant. All of our CBD brands fall within the definition of “hemp” based products; and adhere to the DEA ruling (as defined in the 2018 Farm Bill) that each product must contain less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC (as this is a controlled substance).

There is no "one size fits all" approach when it comes to CBD dosage and serving sizes. Typically we recommend to start with a small amount and then gradually increase until you reach the desired result you are looking for. Our featured partners offers strengths ranging from 100mg up to 1500mg in tincture form; and many bottles come with a calibrated dropper with quarter milligram increments for precise measurements. It is important to note that you cannot overdose on CBD.  Even if taken in higher dosages, there are no known harmful side effects. The first brand we started carrying (Delta Botanicals) use a pure VG (Vegetable Glycerin) base, is 100% organic, and can be administered either orally or thru use of a vaporizer.
